Florida is a no-fault state, which means no grounds or reasons are necessary to obtain a divorce. Florida basically has three requirements for a divorce:
- One of the parties must have been a resident of the State of Florida for at least six months before the filing of a petition in court to dissolve the marriage.
- Someone must pay a filing fee to the Clerk of Court.
- One of the parties must represent that the marriage is irretrievably broken.
